Job Summary

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director manages programs, policies, and services in the areas of privacy, security, and human resources. The Director’s ultimate goal is an engaged, high-performance, high-integrity workforce.

Responsibilities and Duties

This is ultimately a job about attention to detail. It's about ensuring the way we do business matches the way we say we do business. This entails:

  • Policy development, maintenance, and documentation
  • Recruiting and staffing
  • Process development and auditing
  • Planning and executing regular “fire drills” to test privacy, security, and safety processes
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Performance management and improvement systems
  • Employee safety, welfare, wellness and health
  • Employee orientation, development, and training
  • Employee relations
  • Company employee and community communication
  • Compensation and benefits administration
  • Employee services and counselling
  • Organizational and space planning
  • Engaging with customers as required, especially with regard to privacy and security
  • Maintaining and circulating knowledge of applicable privacy and security laws, regulations, standards, and certifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Comfortable with MS Office
  • Ability to learn additional software as required (for example, CRM, accounting, and process applications)
  • 5+ years progressive experience in human resources or related policy positions
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (ideally in in human resources, business, or organizational development)
  • Demonstrated ability to practice high level of confidentiality

Wow Factors

Any of the following qualifications would be especially nice to have:

  • Broad knowledge of or experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training and development
  • Experience with United States information security and privacy regulation and certification (HIPAA, HiTRUST, PCI, and others)
  • Broad knowledge of technical, legal and regulatory aspects of privacy, and security policy
